BOWLS IN THE 1930S .....
I am at present researching women's leisure activities during the the 1930s.
In particular I am studying the extent to which married women in working class areas were able to take part in sport.
If anyone could tell if women did bowl during the 1930s I would be very grateful.
Also of interest if women did bowl, is how this activity was organized.
Were there for example competition for women?
The way the activity was seen by the rest of the community also interests me?
Was it for example, seen as a 'respectable' thing for married women to take part in sports?
Any information, anecdotes or advice as to were such information might be found would be very gratefully recieved.
