LAWN BOWLERS OPINIONS TO CROWN GREEN .....
Browsing through these Lawn Bowls pages I am amazed to read of what a high profile sport Lawn Bowls is out in Australia.
I am a Crown Green Bowler from Great Britain and was wondering, what is the opinion of Crown Green Bowls amongst Lawn Bowlers?
I would also like to ask you is there a lot of young Bowlers participating in Lawn Bowls? I ask this question due to myself being a young bowler at the age of 17 years.
A response would be grately appreciated.

I have no knowledge whatsoever of this game you mentioned. I will search the web today to find out more.
I was considered a young bowler when I started bowling at 50 years of age. There are many young bowlers out there. they are mainly male because it is impossible for women in victoria to follow a sporting career in bowls because all female competition are held on week days and the young girls are either working or at school There is a weekend competiton starting up but there is no way a young bowler can enter into the V.L.B.A. state competitions
I look forward personally to being able to play in mixed competitions so that may of the finicky expectations of lady bowlers can be avoided. I will not mention them here but I will if requested.
Where do you play currently?

I started bowling at the age of 24, i am now 30. I bowl for a team called Abbey Hey, who play in the Manchester leagues where i captain of our premier mid week team . Within that team we have Leigh Smith who is only 18 and is an excellent bowler who is playing at county level.
I love the game of bowls, and at the start of this season i started my own newsletter titled "Don't be short", which is produced monthly with facts and figures of the game and information regarding recent and forthcomming events involving
Abbey Hey Bowling Club.
