Hi David
can you please tell me if chasing after the bowl has any affect on its outcome,as i see many younger players do this and ruin the green for others.
Regards Walter

Walter
if you were physicaly able to run after your bowl you would notice that it does have an effect.. Not on the outcome of the bowl but on the adrenaline it develops chasing a 'Monster' of a shot.
The only damage done to greens is by old folks like you, unable to deliver smoothly, dropping the bowl from the hip. Get back in your rocking chair grandpa!!

Walter,
I am in agreement with Stuart that chasing your bowl does have an affect on your adrenaline, which is not an actual physical effect on your bowl but posibly leads to one on your next bowl or a team members next bowl. I am also offended by your comment that many younger players do it as I have also seen, in my 10 years of playing, many elderly ones to do this aswell, please to not judge us by association.
Ultimately Stuart is also right that many elderly members of bowls clubs ruin the greens also by slinging their bowls and not placing them on the ground which in wet conditions can actually damage the green even more.
I am not sure what your opinion is on whether players should visit the head between bowls or not but I think you will find that in some instances it is simply impossible to get to the other end of the green before your bowl comes to rest, in which case you would then have to wait for the subsequent player to bowls their bowl and then visit the head. If everyone did this 21 ends would last an awfully long time.
I feel that in questioning David Roe in this way is purely confrontational and am pleased to see that he has not honoured your question with an answer. Why ask a question if you already know the answer? Ooops have I just done the same.
I hope my opinion is not too controversial but the continual moaning of bowlers about the actions of the younger players on the green is extremely frustrating. As long as players play within the rules and in a gentlemanly way what is your problem?
Kind Regards
