RULES OF LAWN BOWLS .....
As a newcomer to the sport of Lawn Bowls, I would be very interested if you could add a section to your main index giving simple details of the rules of the game, as to play the game you must know the rules. I do hope you can do this.
Many thanks.

Many thanks.
That is a good request Trish. I am unsure how universal the rules are though
We have two different sets in the UK, EBF and EBA which have variations on the placing of the mat, whether ditched bowls are 'live', whether a bowl on the line is in or out, whether 'firing' is acceptable etc..
The WBB Laws of the Game are on the Bulletin Board. If anyone can help with Trish's query, I would be glad to incorporate the specific rules on the site. I am very busy - do we have anyone with a set in electronic form which I can put on the site?
There is a page which might interest you on the etiquette of the game, on my 'About Bowls' index item.

Yes, I agree a comprehensive guide to the rules is very important for hte newcomer serious on this sport. The Internet is the obvious place for an up-to-date copy of the rules which seem to be changing.
I have only been playing bowls for one week and I am getting conflicting information on the rules. I have been unable to find a copy of the rules anywhere on the Internet for either EBA or EBF.
Web sites I have visited seem hopelesslu out of date and talk of 'forthcoming events' happening in 1997-98!.
Does anyone know of a good UK site about bowls? There does not appear to be one! The EBA site is useless!

Hello E Douglas
If you are in the EBA have a look at the Umpires Web site www.EBUA

If you are playing under EBA rules, the end is dead. You start the end again ( Law 61(a))
Good Luck Roger

In Australia Law 53A (i) and (ii) states that when play resumes after inclement weather break (if on same day) the scores remain the same as they were when the game stopped....so your reply would be....."Three Up"

I was playing in an indoor match today. I took the mat up and then delivered the jack into the ditch. The opposing skip placed the jack on the'T' and ordered the mat to be taken back so that it was full length. I said the jack should have been placed but the mat should not have been moved. Who is correct?
