HOW TO USE THE LAWN BOWLS PERSONAL RECORDS BOOK

The Personal Records Book is to enable people to find out more about you. Where you are, what you do, you interests, hobbies etc. , and to provide a Web Page for you to place a picture and resumé or biography.

To make it easy to find a person or people interested in a specific topic, or living in a certain area you can either scroll through the names in alphabetical order or jump to an alphabet letter by clicking on the blue 'Read' button, or Search the record files by clicking on the 'Search' button. Having found a name, or list of names which interest you, you can click on any name to read the related text about that person.

The files may be searched for any word or combination of words, to speed up the process of locating records containing them.

You can add a NEW record by clicking on the blue ADD button. The entry fields are:-

• SURNAME Enter your own name
• CHRISTIAN NAME Enter your own christian name or initials. If you prefer to be called by a nick name enter it in brackets after your name or initials in this box.
• DATE OF BIRTH/PASSWORD This entry is to prevent others from changing or deleting your entry without your knowledge. It doesn't matter what it is so long as you can remember it! We only suggest your date of birth and a specific format for it because it is unlikely to be forgotten.
• DESCRIPTION The main alphabetical lists will include this line. If someone is looking for you, you can help their search by adding something which will identify you such as 'Architect; Member Boston IBC and Boston Probus Club' or 'male, gray-haired and forty something' for instance.
• E-MAIL Enter your own e-mail address. Clicking on your name will allow people to e-mail you.
• URL Enter any other site you may have personal information on so people can jump to it if they wish.
• TEL Enter your home telephone if you wish. The international code will help those abroad. You have 30 characters of space, room to enter office and/or extension numbers too!
• FAX As above but for fax.
• ADDRESS The address boxes are fairly self-explanatory. You will get an error message if you submit the form without entering your Country, but you have the option of not entering the rest of your address, as long as there is some other point of contact, either a telephone or fax number, or e-mail link or url. (The postcode/zip is required, but won't be shown if your address is not.)
• OPTIONAL BIOGRAPHY OR RESUMÉ This is where you can be a bit expansive about yourself. You are allowed up to 300 characters. An alarm bell will sound if you over-run. You may find it helpful to create this before-hand and paste it from your clipboard. If you also add a picture, the text will wrap around the picture creating your own personal web page completely free.
• OPTIONAL PICTURE URL
  You can also enter an image source for display. Please keep it about this size (1.5cms square width 177pixels x height 177pixels at 300dpi) If you need to know more about this, click on FAQ's

  The URL for this picture on our Server would be http://lawnbowls.com/lbcontrol/giffiles/lesley.gif

  If we put your picture on our server, you would enter this URL only changing the filename '*******.gif'
  

  Change your Entry or Delete it. You will need to identify yourself with your password in order to be able to do this. (This is to protect your entry from unauthorised access.) If you used the suggested format when you created the record, you should have no problem even if you can't remember the password you used.
