Teys and Krizanic untarnished on day two

Australia’s combatants secured three victories from as many starts on the international stage yesterday at NSW’s St Johns Park.

Warilla’s Aaron Teys notched up a further two wins on the second day of the World Champion of Champions yesterday.

Teys’s campaign for the silverware has gathered speed after a suffering two early blows in the opening two rubbers on Monday, before he bounced back with a maiden victory in the third round.

His bid continued to gather pace yesterday on the back of a tie-break victory over the United States’ Scot Roberts, 5-7, 14-1, 5-0, and a straight-sets win over Zambia’s Matthew Mercer 16-3 ,10-3.

Teys is now seventh on the standings in men’s section 2, and faces Niue’s Dalton Tagelagi, Argentina’s Jose Riveros and Japan’s Akira Okuda in a big day on the world stage.

In the women’s event, Carla Krizanic was only afforded one opportunity to continue her unblemished run in the event, due to a bye in round four.

She did just that though, with a straight-sets win over Scotland’s Donna Fleming 12-3, 12-3.

She remains at the top of the standings, but behind England’s Donna Knight and Hong Kong China’s Dorothy Yu on set points.

Krizanic encounters Macau China’s Yuk-Ping Lai and Isle of Man’s Bernice McGreal in her two rubbers today.
