Beach Haven Bowling Club

With the support of the Local Board of the then North Shore City Council, Beach Haven Bowling Club (Inc) was first established on 29th April 1993 by a group of local residents who had identified a need for a Bowling Club at Shepherds Park. The Club finally opened its doors in 1996 with a small Clubhouse, a single Implements Shed and a green cared for by the members.

Since then the Clubhouse has been doubled in size (1999/2000) and the green fenced to protect the turf and provide shade and shelter for players and visitors (2011). A second shed was added (2018) with upgrades made to the pathways around the green in the same year. The deck was also fully extended, greatly improving access to the Clubhouse for all concerned, and the green was re-turfed to North Harbour and Auckland Bowls specifications during the winter of 2018, providing us with a much improved playing surface to complement the new facilities.

We are therefore confident we can be favourably compared with any small urban club in the country with the unique bonus of being located in beautifully wooded surroundings. None of this work would have been possible without input from our community.

We enjoy the support of Individuals, local businesses, Birkenhead Licensing Trust and Local Government. As a result, we have developed into a lively and respected club with a reputation for friendliness and hospitality for visitors.
