Bruthen Bowling Club

Once upon a time in 1950, Seven Bruthen ladies traveled on bumpy dirt roads to Lakes Entrance just to play bowls.

They decided to form a Ladies Club at Bruthen.

(But the powers to be) Decided it would definitely have to be a “Mixed Club”

No such thing as a Ladies Only Club.  The ladies acquired the land, which was the original Town Cemetery from the early days.

The old graves were transferred to the current Town Cemetery.

Money was raised by having raffles/ street stalls etc. From the vision of those wonderful hard working ladies.

We now have a great Club and Clubhouse, with a wonderful green.

Without these dedicated ladies (and men) there would Not be a Bruthen Bowling Club today!

We also appreciate and recognize the Club members who have happily carried on the hard work.
