Club Information
Welcome to The View, a thriving club with a rich history dating back to 1958. We've been a top-performing club since being named "Club of the Year" in 1991, with our Men's Premier League Division boasting twelve metropolitan premierships, most recently in the 2019/20 season.
Our club is home to Bowls WA Hall of Fame Inductees like Beryl Godfrey, Dennis Katunarich, John Rainoldi, Robbie Ball, and Lindsay Thorn, as well as several WA representatives. We're always excited to welcome new members and visitors from Australian or international bowling clubs.
At The View, you'll find excellent facilities, including three turf greens, an all-weather synthetic green, a bar with TAB services, a well-equipped kitchen and dining area, and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
Our beginnings go back to the mid-1950s, when the Scarborough RSL Sub Branch first discussed forming a Memorial Bowling Club. After a meeting on April 15th, 1958, the Doubleview Bowling Club (Inc) was born, with land and development provided by the Perth Road Board. A dedicated fundraising subcommittee raised the necessary funds for the club's development through various events and membership fees.
Our original clubhouse was a brick greenkeeper's shed, which was partitioned to accommodate the greenkeeper and club essentials. Members new to bowling were trained on tennis courts in Brighton Road before the club's official greens were developed. In 1960, an affiliated Ladies Club was formed and officially opened in January 1961.
Throughout the years, our Ladies Club has seen numerous accomplishments, including Beryl Godfrey representing Australia in the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, and Ella Reynolds receiving the May Campbell Service to Sport Award in 1989.
