🍁A historic day for Team Canada Bowls in Glasgow!

Kelly McKerihen opened Canada’s Women’s Singles campaign with a hard-fought battle against Australia. After taking the opening set 8–5, Kelly’s opponent responded with an 8–5 win in the second before claiming the tie-break to secure the match.

Later in the day, Jean Stairs and Anne Hibberd made Canadian bowls history as the country’s first-ever Para Women’s Pair (B6–B8) to compete at the Commonwealth Games! Facing England in their opening match, the Canadian duo earned a tie in the first set before England captured the second for a 1.5–0.5 victory.

The results may not have gone Canada’s way, but both matches marked the beginning of exciting campaigns……and a proud new chapter for Canadian para bowls on the Commonwealth Games stage.

🍁Une journée historique pour l’équipe canadienne de boulingrin à Glasgow!

Kelly McKerihen a lancé la campagne du Canada en simple féminin par un match âprement disputé contre l’Australie. Après avoir remporté la première manche 8–5, l’adversaire de Kelly a riposté en s’imposant 8–5 dans la deuxième manche, avant de s’adjuger le bris d’égalité pour remporter la rencontre.

Plus tard dans la journée, Jean Stairs et Anne Hibberd ont marqué l’histoire du bouling canadien en devenant la toute première paire féminine para (B6–B8) du pays à participer aux Jeux du Commonwealth! Face à l’Angleterre lors de leur premier match, le duo canadien a obtenu un match nul au premier set avant que l’Angleterre ne remporte le deuxième pour s’imposer 1,5–0,5.

Les résultats n’ont peut-être pas été favorables au Canada, mais ces deux matchs ont marqué le début de campagnes passionnantes… et l’ouverture d’un nouveau chapitre glorieux pour le bouling para canadien sur la scène des Jeux du Commonwealth.
