Congratulations to our players on their selection representing Malta at the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
This Games sees a very different format with only Singles and Pairs being played on portable rinks indoors.
We have a strong chance with our Ladies Team of Connie Rixon and Rebecca Rixon.
Both champions on Indoor and outdoor greens – Connie having won silver at the World Indoor Championships in Guernsey and Rebecca Rixon winning Gold in the 2024 World U25 Indoor Championships in Hong Kong. The girls know each other’s games extremely well and are the current World Silver Medalist in Ladies Pairs. They will want to go one better and add that Gold medal to their growing collection for Malta.
This is an exciting time for Connie as she has her first showing in the Singles. Malta has never contested the Ladies Singles at a Commonwealth Games before and she has her eyes firmly set on a podium finish.
Shaun Parnis will come in having played recently at the World Indoors and being a veteran at this level of competition. Shaun has won Bronze at the Indoor World Cup hosted at Warilla so is keen to bring that same form into these games. This marks his 5th Commonwealth Games appearance and his focus will be on making a finals berth these Games.
Troy Lorimer comes in with good form winning last year’s National Titles on the Indoor and having represented Malta at the numerous Indoor and Grass competitions. He represented Malta at Birmingham in 2022 and is looking to make a lasting impression at these games.
