Delighted to have managed and coached the New Zealand Bowls team over the last week in Singapore to win the Lion City Cup for overall best nation, securing three gold medals, and two bronze medals, and World Bowls Series ranking points.
Congratulations to Adam Blucher and Jordan Keene for winning two golds, firstly in the Under 25s sets competition and then again incredibly in the Open Ends event against all comers from the men’s teams.
Lily Signal and Hannah Dawson achieved bronze medals in the Under 25s and Open events, eclipsed only by the fantastic gold medal by Leeane Poulson and Clare Hendra in the Open Women’s pairs.
Craig Merrilees and Craig Tinker made the quarterfinals in both men’s events and collectively this lifted New Zealand to a comfortable overall win and the Lion City Cup trophy. Thanks to the rest of our management and coaching team, Mark Jacombs, Shelley Jacombs and super coach Graham Dorreen, and to Colin, Helen, Ngareta, Anne, Jay, and the Blucher family who were our supporters team. Thanks to Bowls New Zealand for their support. A great overall team and I am stoked with the results in challenging heat and humidity, different greens, and long days. Your grit, determination and considerable ability prevailed – so proud, well done 🙏
