Last weekend, Charlbury BC hosted a celebration of Armed Forces Day, welcoming the Bowls England “Bowling with a disABILITY” team for a day of sport and fundraising. The occasion brought together players, supporters, and volunteers in a show of unity and appreciation for the Armed Forces, while also highlighting the inclusivity and accessibility of bowls as a sport for all.
The highlight of the day was an enthralling match between Charlbury Bowls Club and the Bowls England “Bowling with a disABILITY” team, with representatives from 10 counties. In a dramatic finish, the Bowls England side secured a narrow but well-earned victory, edging the match 92–91.
A tombola, organised by the club as part of the day’s activities, raised valuable funds for Scotty’s Little Troopers, a charity dedicated to supporting children who have experienced the loss of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.
⚠️DON’T FORGET! We are running an ‘Armed Forces Day’ photo competition with over £500 worth of prizes to the club with the best photo. Click the link below for all the details⬇️
