The Mat Blacks have won the Trans-Tasman Trophy following a strong overall performance against Australia in the 2026 Trans-Tasman Test Match in Port Sorell.

New Zealand secured the trophy with an overall game points victory of 38 points to 28, building a strong advantage across the opening two days before holding off a late Australian fightback during the final session.

New Zealand effectively placed one hand on the trophy during the final morning session, with clean sweep victories in both the Men’s Singles and Mixed Fours leaving the side needing only a draw from the remaining afternoon matches to secure the series.

The decisive moment came in the Mixed 6 Bowl Pairs, where another 3–0 discipline victory officially secured the Trans-Tasman Trophy for the Mat Blacks.

Australia finished the series strongly during the closing stages, however New Zealand’s fast start and consistency across the opening two days ultimately proved enough to secure the overall series victory.
