Founded in 1941 as a wider social club, it developed its outdoor bowls section in 1952 and opened a purpose-built indoor club in 1962. Today it has a six-rink outdoor green and six indoor rinks, with air-conditioned indoor playing and bar areas. Outdoor bowls runs through summer, while indoor leagues provide year-round opportunities. Newcomers can take a four-week trial with trained coaches and borrow bowls and shoes during instruction. Social members can also enjoy the club's programme of activities.
