About the Club

Longtown Bowling Club plays outdoor lawn bowls on a six-rink grass green on Netherby Road, north of Carlisle. Founded following a public meeting in 1884, the club opened its green in 1885 and is affiliated to Bowls England and Cumbria Bowling. Players of all ages and experience levels are welcome, including complete beginners. The club supplies equipment for people trying the game; participants need flat-soled shoes. Its outdoor season runs from April to September, with club competitions, social play and friendly fixtures. Contact the club to ask about joining, introductory sessions and current playing arrangements.
