SHOT ADRIAN & THINUS – What an absolute cracker of a match at Wingate Park!
If you’re following the Bowls SA Masters 2026, the Under-30 Men’s section just delivered a game for the ages between Adrian Bookless (Northern Free State) and Thinus van Zyl (North West).
These two have a history that goes all the way back to their roots in Harrismith, and that lifelong friendship clearly fuels a fierce—but respectful—rivalry on the green.
Hot Shot Highlights
The shot-making was nothing short of world-class. We saw:
Precision Drawing: Both players were finding the “perfect road” to the jack, turning the head with almost every delivery.
Tactical “Hot Shots”: The game was a chess match of weighted shots and strategic positioning. Every time one player looked to have a count, the other responded with a clinical “wrest” or a trailing jack to snatch the advantage back.
The Harrismith Connection: It’s rare to see two players who know each other’s game this well. The anticipation and counter-play made for a high-speed, high-stakes display of the modern game.
It’s amazing to see the talent coming through in the U30 category.
These guys aren’t just the future of South African bowls—they are the powerhouse of the present!
