SHOT CP & CECIL – What an absolute titan-class showdown for the history books!

SHOT CP & CECIL – What an absolute titan-class showdown for the history books! If you weren’t at Wingate Park for the Men’s Open Final, you missed the pinnacle of South African bowls.

Cecil Bornman and CP Mathewson didn’t just play a match; they put on a clinic that people will be talking about for years.

THE BATTLE OF THE HOT SHOTS
This final was defined by “Hot Shots” in every sense of the word.

The scoreline barely tells the story of the sheer quality on display:
Cecil Bornman (BGN): Playing on his home turf, Cecil was a surgeon with the woods. His ability to change the head with heavy weight and then follow up with a toucher was nothing short of genius.
CP Mathewson (NC): CP showed exactly why he’s a giant of the game. His composure under fire and those clutch draws to the jack when the pressure was at its boiling point kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

One for the Books

It was a game of “anything you can do, I can do better.” Every time one player looked to have a big count, the other would respond with a piece of magic to trail the jack or kill the end.

The sportsmanship and the level of play were a testament to why the Bowls SA Masters is the most prestigious event on the calendar.

To both Cecil and CP—thank you for reminding us why we love this sport.

That final was pure gold!
